In May 2012 we attended the fourth annual Fine Women Business Showcase.  This event is about women – their business savvy, femininity, talents, beauty, style and unique role in life.  On show on the day were a variety of female based businesses and entrepreneurs who were exhibiting their services, products and talents.  Lucy, who was also one of the exhibitors, impressed many ladies who popped into her stand with her remarkable Cura Soles.
We were entertained and empowered by a wonderful line-up on the stage – celebrity MC – Elana Afrika, Chata Romano Ambassador and Senior Image Consultant, Willene Sieberhagen (Style your Wardrobe, Style Your life – The business woman’s guide on how to Dress for Success).  This workshop was complimented by live demonstrations and a Fashion Show by Cape Town designer, Nadia Turton’s Label Femme range.  Mary Steward gave a hilarious performance with her one woman show “Womanhood”.

The lovely KKC ladies got together on an Autumn day to eat delicious soup, breads and treats.  Fiona made a delicious blue cheese and biltong soup, Amie made a fabulous butternut soup and Bill chipped in with a (bit too) spicy com chowder J  We then celebrated one or two (or three!) birthdays with yummy cheesecake and chocolate cupcakes with candles!  After eating our fill and having a good chat we settled down to watch “Horrible Bosses” (with more snacks and wine!) which was hilarious and we all had a good laugh.  Cheers for a fun KKC everyone!

Want to go clubbing at a place that you will recognise the complete playlist and be able to sing along to the lyrics of every song?
Try out Boogie nightclub! Preferably on a Friday or Saturday as you will be dancing with an over 25 crowd. If you want to feel like a student again, then pop in on a Thursday night where you will find plenty of students of the ‘long legged and short mini-skirt’ species … but no need to be intimidated, as the music is retro, definitely 80’s and keeps your toes tapping and your vocals exercised! Recommended night out especially for those of us who grew up in the 80's!

Lucy

The Nut Cracker on Ice - January 2012

What: The Nutcracker on Ice

When: 29 January 2012 at 6pm

Where: The Artscape Theatre

Cost: R150

Patrons Present: Janine, Lucy, Fiona, Amie, Carol, Lyn, Charnel, Megan, Jodine, Gail and Vanessa S.

Organised by: Carol

The Nutcracker on Ice was an utterly enchanting and dazzling production with stunning costumes and design sets and performed by the amazing Imperial Ice Stars to Tchaikovsky’s music compositions on a theatre stage which was transformed into a temporary ice rink.

The story unfolds with the director focusing on the festive spirit of Christmas Eve, the nutcracker doll transforming into a handsome prince, the battle between the mice and soldiers and finally the journey to the Land of Sweets. Then after all their adventures, one is left wondering if it really happened or was it just a dream.

The skaters had the audience sitting at the edge of their seats as they pushed boundaries to fascinate and entertain them. The skating was absolutely captivating; from the young Maria and the Nutcracker Prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Spanish dancing to flamenco music, the tea dance from China, the Cossack dancers performing energetic acrobatic feats as well as a stunning aerial performance by the only South African in the show with her fiancé.

All in all a truly memorable night at the (ice) ballet.

Girls Wanna Rock Show _August 2011

What: Girls Wanna Rock show

When: 10 August 2011

Where: Barnyard Willowbridge

Cost: R 30 ticket special; order pizzas at Barnyard (special: wine for free...)

Patrons present: Carol, Megan, Charnel, Nadine, Lucy, Vicky, Hildegarde, Alison and Amie

Organised by: Amie

The KKC Girls (and a few co-opted members) joined up at the Barnyard for the Girls Wanna Rock show. Due to a Women’s Day (month) special, we managed to get tickets for only R 30 each. We ordered pizzas from Barnyard and got some wine free (another special). The quality of the free wine was debatable as quite a few comments of intense thirst were received the next day...;-)

The show was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately dancing on the tables was not allowed, but I am sure a few of us felt like hopping up. The singers were phenomenal and their role-playing was quite accurate and, at times, quite hilarious. This show definitely Rocked!
