Cocktails and Snacks - November 2014

When:  2 December 2014
Where:  Amie's house

The original event planned was watching the movie Mamma Mia at the Galileo Open Air Cinema at Hillcrest Quarry.  This was unfortunately cancelled due to very strong wind.  The back-up plan was cocktails and snacks at Amie's house.  Not all 9 people who booked for the movie could join for cocktails so it was only 5 of us.  But we had loads of fun, lots of laughs and stacks of food (as Amie stayed true to herself and over-catered as usual :-) . Thanks girls for joining and making happy memories.
PS Movie at the Galileo at Hillcrest will quite likely be the event of choice for the KKC of November 2015. :-)

Patrons Present:  Janine, Nadine, Lucy, Ana-Rita, Carol, Linda, Fiona and Amie.

For August KKC we decided to have a lovely girl's-only weekend away with the idea to chill and relax.  Linda organised that we stay at her brother's holiday home in Struisbaai.  Friday night was out of this world with soup, wine, cocktails and desserts for supper.  Fiona introduced us to a new game called 5 Crowns.
On Saturday after rusks and coffee for breakfast, we explored Struisbaai's shopping mall (hee hee) and then we went to the Lighthouse at Cape Agulhas which is the southernmost point of Africa.  We also walked to the marker which indicates the official dividing line between the Atlantic and Indian oceans.

After lunch in Cape Agulhas, Linda drove us home so that some of us could have an afternoon nap while Janine, Linda and Amie went to look at the ship wreck and take some photos.  Linda made us a Lamb Slowpot with vegetables for supper and we had mini milk tarts dessert.  Later while snacking on cheese, biscuits and cocktails, some of us played 5 Crowns again as well as Yunomi where we learnt that Nadine's favourite shoes are her slippers (Not).

Sunday morning brunch we had croissants and rolls with cheese, jam, cold meats etc. and relaxed and read outside on the stoep.  At midday we packed and cleaned up and took a leisurely drive back to Cape Town.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to Andre for the use of his holiday home and to Fiona, Amie and Linda for chauffeuring us safely to and from Struisbaai.  Definitely a weekend which we will all remember...

Fun ways to simplify your life by James Smal & Claire van Zyl

We learnt many new tips on how to approach de-cluttering as well as time saving tips e.g. where to put your keys in order that you never waste time looking for them.  We now have a useful tool to prioritise our To Do List and ensure we focus on eating the Frogs before reviewing our C and D lists.

We Shared some delicious snacks and wine and then some more wine.  The afternoon was most informative and enjoyed by all.  Thanks to James Smal from SORTED (james@sorted.za.net) and Claire van Zyl from Visionary Life Services (Claire@visionarylife.co.za) for presenting the workshop.

What a beautiful day.  We left Milnerton at 9.20am en route to Simonstown.  Sun was out.  Arrived around 10.20am.  Booked our visit for the visit onto the SAS Assegaai submarine. Walked around Simonstown a little before our trip.  We were shuttled off to the sub in the harbour and met by Tony, aka grumpy Tony.  The sub was last active in 2004.  Very very small spaces.  31 guys on the one side.  Les also gave us a bit of a tour.  The visit takes about an hour, depends if you are rushed or not.  Heard some interesting stories.  Once back at Jubilee square we went for lunch at Salty Dog and then had yummy ice cream from the ice cream parlour.  On the way home we stopped off for some pics along Boyes Drive.  Fun had by all.
