To find us take the N1 into Cape Town. At the traffic lights at the CTICC continue straight. Drive on till you get to third traffic intersection where you will turn left into Strand Street (landmark is the old NG Kerk). Once in Strand Street, cross the first set of traffic lights (Bree) and then the second (Loop) at the third, turn right into Long Street – it’s a one way. The building at the corner of the first intersection you will drive to is The Grand Daddy. Park. Come inside and take the vintage elevator to the rooftop Airstream Trailer Park where we will clip your tickets and welcome you to a night at the movies. Movie: Double Indemnity
R50 buys you entrance to the movie, a drink of your choice (wine, beer, cider or a soft drink), popcorn, ice cream & some sweets / candy floss. A great evening out – classic movies (not mainstream movies so be warned you need to leave your mind open to the classic style of movie) at an outdoor cinema!
A nice touch was a blanket on each seat – and we sure needed it as the wind was howling.
Definitely recommended and very good value for money. We met Andy and Matt who were visiting down from the UK. They also showed us their "pad" trailer that they were staying in for the two nights. MYOGA RESTUARANT
Tucked away in leafy Newlands, in the Vineyard Hotel, is Myoga Restuarant and KKC visited for the recently launched High Tea. The setting is superb, as we were seated on the terrace over looking the mountains and lush gardens.
Our waiter Ray (Sugar Ray) was very attentive to his table of ladies and did his best, but however, couldn't contain his mirth when Janine enquired about the Pikkies (Piejies). The menu (which changes daily) was extensive and we could choose 2 savoury, 2 sweet together with a scone and choice of beverage for R75. The conversation and the food were decadent. Our laughter lit up the otherwise very quiet and peaceful restuarant. Very interesting topics added to the day. Time to be remembered. Wedding was taking place in the lush gardens and even the very gorgeous looking minister came over. The ladies had to put their tongues back in their mouths. I (Kerry, we,)thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, and will definitely be going back for dinner. Who's joining?? Ray our waiter ;-)

We went to Simply Creative and Ronita showed us how to make 4 different cards. We learnt various techniques such as embossing with the Cuttlebug, shaker boxes, stippling backgrounds, stamping, etc. The cost was R 100.00 for a 3-hour class and this included the materials and tools we used. The ladies were impressed with their finished products and got loads of ideas. Hopefully they will now make their own Christmas cards as well as Birthday cards.

After much diary consultation and moving around of Clarissa's baby showers, we finally found a date to do the August KKC. 6 ladies arrived at the Breeze house and each lady was given a pack which consisted of crochet hook, wool and a step-by-step instruction page. Mrs Breeze was very patient and showed each one how to crochet. The objective of the day was for each person to finish one square. Some found it to be really easy and got way ahead of the rest of the group, others realised that they would stick to taking photo's and looked after all the guests with refreshments and food. Thanks for the patience. Hope you all had fun. ;-)

Making Koeksisters - July 2009

This month we, under the guidance of Linda (our master baker), made koeksisters.What an adventure. We were all prepared with our aprons, mixing bowls and woodens spoons but ended up mixing the dough with our hands. Firstly Linda explained how she made the syrup the night before - complete with diagrams on a makeshift whiteboard on her dining room wall.Then we set to work in two groups to make the batter. It was a messy business but soon we had dough that was ready to be rolled out.Linda appeared with these amazing koeksister cutters which took away all the stress of cutting the strips evenly. We made loads of koeksisters and while we were busy, Linda deep fried the raw koeksisters and then dunked in the cold syrup. We were sampling as we went along and enjoying some wine and Fiona's homemade lemonade. We had a few 'doughy' koeksisters but we ate those too...Vannessa - who came along to watch - also enjoyed sampling the morsels we produced.Afterwards we watched the dvd of Vannessa's 4d scan. Thanks to all the ladies who attended..it was lots of fun.

One of the Kick boxing associations was raising funds. They had various marshal arts displays, belly dancing and you could even have a henna tattoo. Vannessa had her tummy tattooed.

Children's Home Visit - March 2009

We found a home off the N7 where they look after various children. We went through to donate clothes, toys and also gave the children a party, cakes, cooldrink. Great fun was had by all. Spoke to the person who runs the orphanage (Gerhard) and he said we are most welcome to come out there on Saturday. They need clothes, bedding, towels and curtains. They experienced a huge fire on their premisses. The home also runs a counselling session.

Children's ages are:
3 Boys: 5, 6 and 9 years of age
5 Girls: 6, 8, 9 years of age

City Siteseeing Cape Town - February 2009

- It should take about 2 hours to complete the full route if you decide not to get off the bus.
- You get a set of ear phones but they are not that comfortable so you could bring your own set of ipod ear phones if you wish.
- We stopped at Mariners Wharf in Hout Bay for lunch – yummy fish & chips, finger linking good!
- Linda & Shawn looked the part with back pack and all.
- Janine with her super camera lenses didn’t let us down either.
- Fun was had by all and good to be a tourist in your own CountryJ…. Well worth the trip & recommended for anyone entertaining ‘out of town’ friends & family.

What is Artjamming?
