On Sunday 9th August we joined a gathering of men and women to celebrate National Women's Day with a high tea. There was a variety of sweet and savoury eats including a version of Janine's famous microwave chocolate cake. The afternoon included a quest speaker - Mary, who spoke about overcoming an abusive marriage as well as bowel cancer. It was an interesting speech to say the least.
The other entertainment included a piano recital by Dieter, two young ladies who played the clarinet and violin respectively as well as Daphne's funky belly-dancing demonstration.
Ryno entertained us with beautiful versions of famous songs (even with technical difficulties).
The afternoon ended with a zumba demonstration which had some ladies joining in. It was a wonderful afternoon to chat and catch-up with friends and we even received a goodie bag. The money raised will be donated to the Pear Tree Project which gives essential supplies to new mothers for their babies which are born at Somerset Hospital.
